Radio host Charlamagne Tha God criticized individuals Friday for rejoicing about the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Former Washington Post columnist Taylor Lorenz, journalist Ken Klippenstein and other left-wing individuals downplayed the Dec. 4 assassination of 50-year-old Thompson, focusing on grievances with the health care system instead of expressing remorse for his death. Charlamagne, on “The Breakfast Club,” expressed confusion at positive responses to the murder, emphasizing the effect on Thompson’s family and arguing that his death will not bring meaningful change to the health care system.

“I just don’t understand why everybody making so light of the UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson getting killed … let’s even forget what he is, right, as a United Healthcare CEO,” Charlamagne said. “All I see is a father walking in New York City to go to his job and he got gunned down.”

Co-host DJ Envy chimed in to note that Thompson “doesn’t own the company” and was “hired to do a job.”

“I don’t understand why people are celebrating him being killed because at the end of the day, like I said yesterday, he’s dead. His kids don’t got no father. That 26-year-old Luigi [Mangione], or whatever his name is, he gon’ be in jail for the rest of his life,” Charlamagne added. “And the healthcare system is still the same today — the health companies still denying claims and everything today. So what did that accomplish? And why are you happy about him being gunned down like that? It’s just weird where we are as a people.”

Lorenz appeared to smirk during a Monday discussion of the alleged assassin, Mangione, prompting British journalist Piers Morgan snap at her on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Morgan called out Lorenz for seeming to “find the whole thing hilarious,” but she clarified that while she did not find the situation humorous, she believed it was a “good thing” the murder raised awareness of the healthcare system in America.

Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren then criticized Lorenz for “celebrating” Thompson’s murder and for liberals’ alleged support for “political violence.”

“Taylor, I don’t mean to be rude, but why the fuck are you laughing all the time?” Morgan jumped in. “I don’t get it. Sorry, apologies for my language, but honestly, I find it unbelievable. What are you laughing at?”

“I am laughing at Tomi’s insane mischaracterization of why people are angry,” Lorenz asserted.
