PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A fight that broke out between two students at River Ridge High School in Pasco County, ended with one student airlifted to the hospital for treatment.
According to the arrest report, two male students entered into a mutual fight. The defendant struck the victim in the head with a closed fist and the boy was knocked to the ground.
Once the victim was knocked to the ground, he was unconscious and unable to defend himself.
The defendant got on top of the victim and struck him several more times and stomped on the victims head multiple times.
The victim suffered a head injury and was airlifted to St. Joseph’s hospital where he was admitted.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office has arrested River Ridge High School student Kevin Smith, 17, and he has been charged with felony battery.
The other juvenile, who was transported to the hospital and is alert and talking now with non-life-threatening injuries. A charge for a misdemeanor battery has been referred to the State Attorney’s Office, as he was the other participant in the fight and struck Smith.
Police say, this juvenile is not being identified as his referred charge is a misdemeanor.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office will have additional law enforcement presence at River Ridge High School tomorrow.
