A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of another teenager on 11th Street South, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
The incident, initially reported as a possible drive-by shooting, has been reclassified following a thorough investigation.
Detectives have now determined that the shooting was not a drive-by. Instead, it occurred when Markus Carr, 15, allegedly fired a handgun at Jaden Hill, 13, of Largo, while they were both inside a vehicle at 2421 11th St. S. on Saturday, April 12th, shortly after 11 p.m.
According to the police report, Hill was recording Carr on his cell phone as Carr pointed the gun. Carr then discharged the firearm, striking Hill.
Hill was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.
Following the investigation, Carr was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held in custody.
