MULBERRY, Fla. – A quick-thinking witness and swift action by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a Mulberry man caught in the act.
On Wednesday morning, Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in progress on Bailey Road in Mulberry. They found Jeffrey Warren, 54, walking near the victim’s house, shirtless, sweating, and with dirt-covered knees.

Deputies discovered burglary tools and evidence of a disassembled AC unit behind the house. When confronted, Warren’s incoherent story and sudden “chest pains” failed to convince the deputies.
After a medical check, he was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, grand theft, and violation of probation.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the witness who promptly reported the suspicious activity, leading to Warren’s arrest.
