A Florida nurse who was sought by police for sexually battering an elderly mentally handicapped patient has been arrested.
On Thursday morning William Cease was located and arrested while leaving his residence. He has since been transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
William Cease was wanted for an incident that occurred on December 13 at his place of employment, The Care Center of Pinellas Park.
While working his scheduled shift, William Cease was located by another employee in the bed of a 69-year-old patient/resident of the facility.
At the time, William Cease was in a state of undress, inappropriately touching the victim, a vulnerable adult, according to police.
Staff intervened and William Cease and the victim were separated.
Law enforcement was then called to the scene. William Cease fled the scene shortly after the arrival of officers. Detectives took over the investigation and established probable cause for the arrest of William Cease.
The Care Center of Pinellas Park has cooperated with detectives throughout this investigation. William Cease has been employed at this facility since 2019 as a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN).
