HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee (HCREC) re-elected Carmen Edmonds as its Chair during its monthly meeting. Edmonds, who initially assumed the role in February 2024 following the resignation of the previous Chair due to health reasons, secured her position with an overwhelming 69% of the vote.
The meeting, attended by 152 HCREC members, also saw the election of new Board Officers, marking a fresh chapter for the local GOP organization.
Edmonds campaigned on a platform of unity and growth, presenting a slate of candidates for key leadership positions. Her team included Jeff Franklin as Vice-Chair, Angel Ramos as Secretary, and John Ballance as Treasurer. Together, they pledged their Commitment to a Winning REC, a promise that resonated with members and solidified their victories.

“I am honored to continue serving as Chair of the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee,” Edmonds said following her re-election. “Our team is dedicated to building on the successes of the past and working tirelessly to ensure Republican victories at every level of government.”
One of the primary goals of the newly elected Board is to increase fundraising efforts to support local and statewide Republican campaigns. As part of this initiative, the HCREC is already planning its annual Lincoln Day Dinner, a key fundraising event scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025. The dinner is expected to draw prominent Republican leaders and supporters from across the state.
In addition to fundraising, the Board aims to continue its successful Get Out the Vote (GOTV) strategies, which played a crucial role in the re-election of President Donald J. Trump and Senator Rick Scott in 2024. Edmonds emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization and community engagement in maintaining Republican momentum.
“Our focus is on building a strong, active, and united Republican Party in Hillsborough County,” Edmonds said. “We will continue to engage with voters, support our candidates, and ensure that our values are represented at every level of government.”

Carmen Edmonds brings a wealth of experience to her role as Chair. She has been actively involved in the Hillsborough County GOP since May 2021, volunteering for high-profile campaigns such as those of President Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis. Her leadership roles have included serving as Chair of the Precinct Development Committee and Chair of the Fundraising Committee in 2023, where she demonstrated her ability to organize and inspire.
Under her leadership, the HCREC has seen increased engagement and success, particularly in the 2024 election cycle. Edmonds’ re-election reflects the confidence that local Republicans have in her ability to lead the party forward.
As the HCREC prepares for the 2025 Lincoln Day Dinner and beyond, the focus remains on strengthening the party’s infrastructure, expanding its reach, and ensuring Republican victories in future elections. With a dedicated leadership team and a clear vision for success, the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape of Florida.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am confident that together, we can achieve great things for our party and our community,” Edmonds said. “The best is yet to come.”
