On Wednesday night, police in the nation’s capital were called to the scene of a violent protest outside the DNC headquarters.

About 150 people were reportedly “illegally and violently protesting” in the Washington, DC, area around the DNC headquarters building, according to U.S. Capitol Police.

Social media footage showed demonstrators pushing police officers and attempting to seize metal barriers while the officers moved in to make arrests.

A large number of the demonstrators were donning “Cease Fire Now” t-shirts in black. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, other officers were attending to the disturbance as well.

Congress members had also been evacuated from the area, according to the police, but they gave no further information.
