As of this writing, the facts are still emerging in Friday’s tragic attack on two U.S. Capitol Police officers, which left one of them dead and another injured and hospitalized.
But what we do know at this point utterly destroys the narrative the media and the Democrats have crafted for the last three months – even as one of them tried to salvage it.
The backdrop, of course, is that liberals, and even some Republicans, have spent weeks declaring that the seat of our national government was uniquely targeted and threatened by Trump-loving, gun-toting white supremacists.
But Friday’s assault on the Capitol blew that up.
The suspect, 25-year-old Noah Green, who was shot dead in the attack, was black and a follower of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan’s radical black separatist group.
Moreover, the incident could deflate the left’s drive for gun control, since Green crashed his car into a barricade and then attempted to attack the officers with a knife.
But leave it to the radical Democrats to try to spin the attack – even if the alleged logic leaves one dizzy – as illustrated by Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, herself a radical Muslim.
After Green’s attack, as The Washington Times noted, Omar tweeted: “Heartbroken to learn another CP was killed while protecting the Capitol. My thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family and the entire Capitol Police force. The death toll would have been worse if the assailant had an AR-15 instead of a knife.”
Set aside the fact that liberals, after some recent mass shootings have told us that expressions of “thoughts and prayers” for victims are meaningless drivel, Omar ridiculously tried to make gun control a factor from an assailant who used a car and a knife.
As the Times put it, “Readers (of the tweet) overwhelmingly panned the Democrat’s attempt to shoehorn a gun-control message into a killing that didn’t involve firearms.”
Some examples captured by the Times:
“Never let a tragedy go to waste apparently. Using any type of violence whatsoever to push gun control.”
“The death toll would have been worse if the assailant had a tactical thermonuclear missile instead of a knife.”
“Would have been way worse if he had flown a 747 into the gate.”
In addition to swallowing Farrakhan’s often hateful rhetoric whole, Green apparently showed he had been paying attention to many on the left of late.
“The U.S. Government is the #1 enemy of Black people!” Green entitled one of his Instagram posts, according to CNN.
