Not content with mere vandalism, left-wing activists in the Mecca of diversity and tolerance want former President Donald Trump’s star removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to a recent Los Angeles Times report, Hollywood Hills resident Andrew Rudick is spearheading the effort to have Trump’s star eradicated.

If he succeeds, it would be the first time a star has been eradicated from the renowned tourist site.

“The reasonably conveyed message to the millions who have walked past that plaque since 2021 is the city’s endorsement of a man who attempted a coup against the United States,” Rudick told the Los Angeles City Council during a meeting last month.

Trump’s star has been part of the Walk since 2007, when he was recognized for his work on “The Apprentice.” The Times noted that Trump’s camp declined to comment on Rudick’s campaign.

But a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Republican Party told the paper, “Los Angeles government fails on every level. They should focus on their job — getting all our sidewalks clean and safe.”

The current obstacle to the successful culmination of Rudick’s crusade is confusion over who has authority over the more than 2,700 stars embedded in the Hollywood sidewalks.

The Times noted that the City Council, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Hollywood Historic Trust all share custody of the Walk of Fame in some respect.

As the Times added, “The removal of a star is unprecedented, and a process for doing so has never been established. Rudick’s activism, however, is forcing city officials to confront the unknown.”

As Rudick told the far-left Guardian in a separate interview, “It cannot be this hard. This man attempted a coup against the United States and yet we continue to honor him … How are we the voters supposed to have faith in the city council to deal with any real level of challenge if they can’t get this done?”

While the “coup” argument is a figment of liberals’ imagination, since Trump has never been charged with, much less convicted, of attempting such a thing, Rudick is apparently unconcerned about the stars belonging to nefarious characters.

That would include:

  • Bill Cosby, who was accused of sexually assaulting more than 45 women, most of them drugged at the time
  • Spade Cooley, a swing musician given a star in 1960, only to be convicted of murdering his wife a year later
  • Charlie Sheen, who had unprotected sex with women while knowing he was HIV-positive and not telling them

The Times reported that the star has been damaged a few times since Trump was first elected in 2016, costing the Chamber of Commerce an estimated $20,000 to repair.

Axios reported that a petition to yank Trump’s marker has garnered more than 3,800 signatures. And at least two members of the City Council have openly called for Trump’s star to go.
