California Man’s Meth Pipeline To Maine Lands Him In Prison For Over A Decade

A California man has been sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy that spanned from California to Maine.

Alex Hanna, 31, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Bangor to 138 months in prison and five years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and 1 money laundering charges on March 14, 2024.

According to court records, Hanna and his co-conspirators trafficked methamphetamine in Downeast Maine between May 2022 and March 2023.

Hanna coordinated drug shipments from a source in California and recruited individuals in Maine to receive the packages. He also laundered the proceeds from drug sales by sending money back to California through various methods, including Walmart2Walmart, Cash App, and Venmo.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, with assistance from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Ellsworth Police Department, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Holden Police Department, and Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
