Vo Nguyen, a 38-year-old San Francisco man, was sentenced to 132 months (11 years) in federal prison for assaulting a United States Postal Service (USPS) employee with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm during the assault.
United States Attorney Ismail J. Ramsey and United States Postal Inspection Service, San Francisco Division Inspector in Charge Stephen Sherwood announced the sentence.

On April 1, 2023, Nguyen confronted a USPS employee who was delivering mail to his residence.
After a verbal altercation and the use of pepper spray by the employee, Nguyen retrieved a 9-millimeter pistol and pursued the employee in his car, firing multiple shots. The postal worker managed to escape unharmed.

Nguyen pleaded guilty to the charges on May 2, 2024. In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Orrick ordered a three-year period of supervised release and scheduled a hearing to determine restitution for the victim.
