WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A Grinch who tried to steal Christmas cheer by burglarizing a Polk County Fire Rescue equipment shed was caught and arrested just two days later, ensuring he spent the holiday behind bars.
On December 22nd, 2024, Polk County Fire Rescue discovered that their equipment shed in Winter Haven had been burglarized and called the Polk County Sheriff’s Office to investigate. The stolen items included vital life-saving equipment, according to deputies.

Detectives quickly identified Patrick Ciszek as the suspect and arrested him on Christmas Eve. The stolen equipment was recovered, preventing any disruption to emergency services during the holiday season.
