TAMPA, Fla. – Buddy Brew Coffee has struck an agreement with Phoenix-based natural foods grocery chain Sprouts Farmers Market. Effective immediately, Sprouts will distribute Buddy Brew’s BOLT cold brew coffee, in original and nitro, in all 370 Sprouts stores in 23 states.
The agreement with Sprouts represents BOLT’s largest geographic footprint to date. BOLT will now be in many midwest and western states for the very first time, including 132 Sprouts stores in California, 44 stores in Arizona and 32 stores in Colorado — as well as in 35 stores in Buddy Brew’s home state of Florida.
“We share Sprouts’ passion for freshness, natural ingredients, and superior customer service,” said Susan Ward, Buddy Brew Coffee’s co-founder, and president. “We can’t wait for Sprouts customers to enjoy the refreshing, smooth taste of BOLT, which is naturally made using our organic, ethically sourced specialty grade coffees and a proprietary cold brew process. It really is the ultimate clean energy drink.”

The Sprouts partnership builds on a recent agreement with Jacksonville, Fla.,–based Southeastern Grocer Inc. (SEG) to carry BOLT in the natural section at 110 Winn-Dixie stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. BOLT is also available for purchase at all Whole Foods Market stores in Florida.
In 2010, Buddy Brew opened by Dave and Susan Ward as a coffee roastery in a small storefront on Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa.
Now, Buddy Brew has eight popular cafés and a brew truck in the Tampa Bay area, and a booming wholesale and e-commerce business. Its whole bean coffees are sold in hundreds of grocery stores through The Fresh Market, Roche Bros., Fresh Thyme Market, Publix Super Markets, and Whole Foods Market.
Buddy Brew’s “Brew Good, Do Good” mission represents the company’s people-first focus. All coffees are sourced ethically and sustainably through relationships with small-lot farmers and women-owned co-ops, paying highly equitable prices so farmers can thrive. All coffees are among the top 2 percent in quality in the world.
Buddy Brew contributes to multiple local and global causes, including providing resources to those affected by human trafficking; bringing hope and healing to children and youths in the foster care system, and planting trees to support reforestation in coffee-growing regions affected by climate change.
