TAMPA, Fla. – Bucs Tom Brady is used to being in the public eye, but now has the media digging into his personal life including his relationship with his wife.
Brady, meeting with the media Thursday at One Buc, says it’s nothing new for him to have his every move scrutinized and says he’s just trying to get ready for the season opener.
“It’s been like that for a long time for me,” Brady said. “I know how to try to do my best and professionally show up every day and do my job the best way I can.”
Brady is entering his 23rd NFL season and is taking it day to day. The 7-time Super Bowl Champion says he’s not looking past this season even though he’s on a one-year deal with the Bucs.
“We’re all not sure whether we’re going to be here next year,” Brady said. “That’s the reality for every player, every coach, every parent. You just never know.”
Brady is 6-0 vs the Cowboys and led the Bucs on a game-winning drive last year in the opener. He is excited about some of the new additions including wide receiver Julio Jones.
“Obviously he’s a great player, ” Brady said. “But I think he’s a great teammate too. You just sense that he’s here for all the right reasons.
The Bucs’ offensive line will have center Robert Hainsey and left guard Luke Goedeke making their NFL debut. Brady took it upon himself to show the pair clippings of what negative things that were being said about them in order to motivate them. Brady admits they took it in stride.
Brady is starting to get annoyed by being asked if his good friend Super Bowl Champion with the Patriots and Bucs Rob Gronkowski is going to make a comeback.
“I don’t want to talk about Gronk every week,” Brady said.”Regardless of who’s out there whether it’s Gronk at that position, which it’s not this year, other guys are going to do a great job.”
