Bucs QB Baker Mayfield and LT Tristan Wirfs are enjoying Pro Bowl Games festivities in Orlando, hanging with the best players in the NFL. Oh, and they’re excited about their new offensive coordinator, Liam Coen.
” I love the system,” Mayfield said. “Obviously, going to LA and then playing under Dave (Canales), it’s a similar system—just the approach of how the run sets up the pass. Liam is smart. He’s a hard worker, and the energy we can feed off that.”
Mayfield is a replacement for Cowboys Dak Prescott, who is injured, and Wirfs is replacing the Chiefs Trent Green, who is a little busy getting ready to play in the Super Bowl.
Wirfs says he doesn’t know much about Coen, but if Baker is all in, so is he.

“I’ll have to look him up on Twitter or something,” Wirfs said. “I’m excited. I’m excited to get to know him.
Wirfs switched from right tackle to the left side before the season started, and he even admitted to having anxiety and waking up at night worrying. That worry turned into confidence as Wirfs did not miss a snap and was never called for holding one time. This was done while battling ankle, back, and shoulder injuries. It’s Wirf’s third Pro Bowl, but first at left tackle.
“It was really cool getting that call,” Wirfs said. Wirfs says two days later, he got a call from Mayfield.
“He (Mayfield) said, hey, you’re not going to be the only one (Buccaneer)in Orlando. I said, “What are you talking about?” What’s in Orlando? I said, oh my God. That was really cool.”
Mayfield was named the NFL’s Most Improved Player by the Pro Football Writers of America and had a career season. To be here makes it even sweeter.
“It’s fun to be around Tristan and everybody else here: Mayfield said. “Everybody is just having a good time.”
Both Mayfield and Wirfs said they’d rather be playing as a team in the Super Bowl, but to be among the elite, they credit their teammates and head coach Todd Bowles.

Wirfs was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and 2022 as a right tackle, while Mayfield is a first-timer.
Mike Evans has elected to sit these Pro Bowl Games out since he’s dealing with an injury.
