SARASOTA, Fla. – Jacaranda Boulevard has reopened after an earlier closure from a brush fire in Sarasota Sunday.
ORIGINAL REPORT: Emergency crews are currently battling a brush fire that ignited in the wooded area behind the CVS Pharmacy around 4 p.m. Saturday near 4090 S. Tamiami Trail.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Sarasota County Fire Department and the Department of Forestry in their efforts to contain the blaze.
Heavy smoke is impacting visibility in the area, prompting the closure of Jacaranda Boulevard between Tamiami Trail and Corso Venetia Boulevard to all vehicular traffic. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area if possible, so emergency responders can work.
