HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Brooksville woman has been sentenced to one year in federal prison for lying to federal agents investigating the murder of a 17-year-old high school student.

Janet Williams, 44, admitted to concealing information about her son, Sheldon Robinson, who was arrested in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old Hernando County High School student in February 2023.

After Robinson’s arrest, Williams found approximately $6,000 that he had hidden in her home. This money was reportedly payment for the murder. However, when questioned by federal agents, Williams repeatedly denied finding any money belonging to her son.

Further investigation revealed that Williams had not only lied about the money but also about her son’s possession of firearms.

Her phone contained numerous photos of Robinson with guns, including images taken inside her home. Agents also discovered a firearm partially buried in her backyard, which was later confirmed to be the murder weapon.

Williams’ attempts to obstruct the investigation ultimately failed, leading to her conviction and sentencing.
