Brooksville Man Among 2 Arrested In Sarasota Homicide Investigation

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended two suspects in connection with the murder of Edward James Dukes Jr., 47, of Sarasota.

Damontae Montrell Tillery, 24, of Sarasota, and Karriem Jermaine McDowell Jr., 23, of Brooksville, were arrested late Friday, August 2nd, and are currently in custody at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.

Deputies initially responded to the victim’s residence at 2724 Regatta Drive on July 25th, where they found Dukes deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. Through investigative efforts, detectives were able to identify Tillery and McDowell as suspects in the case.
