A major development has surfaced in the 1980 cold case murder of University of Texas nursing student 25-year-old Susan Leigh Wolfe. Authorities have identified Deck Brewer, 78, as a suspect through DNA evidence, but the search continues for a second individual involved in the crime.

Wolfe was abducted near her home in Austin while walking to a friend’s house. A witness described seeing her forced into a 1970 Dodge Polara.

Her body was found the next morning, bearing signs of sexual assault and a fatal gunshot wound.

Decades later, in 2023, advanced DNA testing linked Brewer to the crime scene. He is currently incarcerated in Massachusetts on unrelated charges. A DNA sample obtained from Brewer in July further confirmed his connection to the murder.

While Brewer has been charged with Wolfe’s killing, the investigation is ongoing. Police are actively seeking information about the second person present during the abduction.

Sadly, both of Wolfe’s parents have passed away, and her former roommate is also believed to be deceased.
