TAMPA, Fla. – After developing leads and locating the suspect, Tampa Police apprehended Juan Alvarado-Colon at the Brandon Town Center on September 10th.
Alvarado-Colon was taken into custody and transported to Orient Road Jail, charged with Aggravated Battery with Great Bodily Harm and Deadly Weapon.
Officers were dispatched to the Godfrey Hotel in response to reports of a shooting. Early investigations suggests the suspect and the victim were both known to each other and had a heated argument earlier in the evening. The suspect then returned and shot the victim before fleeing the scene.
Officers arrived to find the victim bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound.
One officer quickly applied a makeshift tourniquet using the cord from a blow dryer while another officer monitored the victim’s vital signs. At some point, the victim had no pulse and officers performed CPR until the victim was again able to breathe on his own. Tampa Fire Rescue arrived to treat and then transport the victim to a nearby hospital.
The victim remains in Intensive Care, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
