Early Saturday local time, the Israeli military launched strikes on unspecified military targets within Iran, according to officials. While the exact targets remain unclear, Iranian state media reported hearing explosions around Tehran, without further elaboration.
In a statement, the Israeli military emphasized its “right and duty to respond,” stating, “The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since Oct. 7 – on seven fronts – including direct attacks from Iranian soil.”

Iranian state television later reported that some of the explosions were tied to air defense systems, but did not provide additional details.
