Anchorage, Alaska- Deputy Chief of Police Robert Pruckner announced today the arrival of FBI personnel to support the Nome Police Department’s ongoing investigative efforts into the disappearance of 33-year-old Florence Okpealuk.
The FBI Anchorage Field Office had been providing technical assistance beginning shortly after Ms. Okpealuk was reported missing, but today’s announcement regarding local supportive efforts comes at the request of the Nome Police Department to provide additional manpower and specialized resources that could assist in finding Ms. Okpealuk.

Florence Okpealuk is approximately 33 years of age, 5’2” in height, has dark brown hair, and is around 130 pounds. She was reported missing by family members on August 31, 2020, and was last seen on West Beach.
This investigation is being conducted by the Nome Police Department, with assistance from the FBI Anchorage Field Office, the Alaska State Troopers, the Nome Volunteer Fire Department Search and Rescue Team, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
