VALRICO, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred on the 2400 block of Drake Elm Terrace in Valrico.
On March 19, 2025, at 3:49 a.m., HCSO dispatchers received a 911 call from a woman reporting a disturbance inside her home. In the background, dispatchers could hear an argument involving the woman, her estranged husband, and her boyfriend.
At 3:51 a.m., a 12-year-old boy inside the home called 911, reporting that his father had broken into the residence. Moments later, gunshots were heard.

Deputies arrived on the scene at 3:56 a.m. and discovered the woman’s boyfriend with multiple gunshot wounds. Outside the residence, they found a vehicle and a body believed to be the estranged husband, both on fire. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
“This was a horrific and senseless act of violence that left two people dead and a woman and her son in unimaginable distress. No one should ever have to experience this kind of tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This is a devastating reminder of how dangerous domestic situations can become. If you are in need of help, please reach out to law enforcement.”
The HCSO is continuing its active investigation into the incident.
