A seemingly mundane argument over breakfast turned tragic, leading to the arrest of a Louisiana woman for the second-degree murder of her boyfriend. Tamyrihu Hubbard, 24, is now behind bars, accused of fatally shooting 23-year-old Joshua Jones of LaPlace.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Hubbard herself at 10:36 a.m. on February 16, 2025, reporting that she had shot her boyfriend in the chest. Deputies arrived at the residence in the 100 block of E. Lakeview Drive in LaPlace to find Jones unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Hubbard told deputies that the shooting stemmed from an argument with Jones over breakfast food. The dispute escalated, culminating in the fatal gunshot.

Hubbard was immediately taken into custody at the scene. She has been booked into the parish jail and is being held on a $1 million bond.
