SARASOTA, Fla. – A Bradenton man wanted on a felony narcotics warrant died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday evening after fleeing from Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies.

The incident began around 5:38 p.m. when deputies attempted to stop 31-year-old Cody M. Burrow, who was driving a grey Ford F-150.

During the attempted traffic stop near the intersection of Beneva Road and Webber Road, Burrow crashed his vehicle into a Tesla and multiple deputies’ vehicles, injuring one deputy. Burrow then fled the scene, driving northbound on Beneva Road.

Shortly after, at approximately 5:47 p.m., deputies were alerted to a traffic crash on Lockwood Ridge Road and 53rd Street, about six miles from the initial incident. They arrived to find the same Ford F-150 crashed into a utility pole. Burrow, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured deputy was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash.
