Boy 11, Woman 43, Shot In Their Homes Overnight While Sleeping In Two Separate Incidents

SAINT PETERSBURG, FL. – St. Pete Police are investigating two overnight shootings that left an 11-year-old boy and 43-year-old woman with gunshot wounds while sleeping.

“We had two separate shootings into homes and striking victims overnight. It is very early in the investigations and we are still trying to determine whether they are related. However, preliminary information suggests there is no link between the cases,” said St. Pete Police in a statement.

Detectives are actively working these cases and urge anyone with information to call St. Petersburg Police 727-893-7711 or text SPPD plus your tip, to TIP411.

  • At 12:30 a.m., in a home in the 2300 block of 7th Street South, an 11-year-old boy woke up when a bullet injured his foot.  His injuries are non-life-threatening. It appears someone fired shots somewhere outside the house and a stray bullet came inside the house and struck him.
  • At 1:40 a.m., in a home in the 1300 block of 21st Street South, a 43-year-old woman woke up in bed with a gunshot wound to her lower leg.  Her injuries are non-life-threatening. Again, this appears to have been shots fired outside on the roadway and a bullet came into the home.

Again, anyone with information to call St. Petersburg Police 727-893-7711 or text SPPD plus your tip, to TIP411.
