BOSTON, Mass. – A Boston man, Akeem Lahens, was sentenced Friday to over six years in federal prison for committing a string of armed robberies in the city. Lahens, 34, targeted multiple businesses, including Metro PCS, Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless, and Dunkin Donuts, between April and May 2023.

In each instance, he brandished two large knives, demanded money, and often forced employees into back rooms.

Lahens’ crime spree was cut short when he was arrested on state charges in May 2023. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered evidence linking him to the robberies, including the knives used in the attacks. This conviction adds to Lahens’ criminal history, as he was already on federal supervised release for five prior robbery convictions in New York.

The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs on July 31, 2024, reflects the severity of the crimes and Lahens’ repeat offenses. It includes 77 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and restitution to the businesses he robbed.
