U.S. Border Patrol agents in San Diego have dealt a significant blow to drug smuggling operations, seizing over $784,000 worth of narcotics in two separate busts within a 24-hour period.

The first interception occurred on March 17th at 2:52 p.m. at the San Clemente Station. Agents stopped a suspicious vehicle and, with the driver’s consent, conducted a search. Inside a duffel bag, they discovered packages containing heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine.

The seized narcotics totaled 56.21 pounds, with an estimated street value of over $314,000. The driver was arrested and handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for federal prosecution. The vehicle was also seized.

The second bust took place on March 18th at 6:25 a.m., also at the San Clemente Station. Agents conducted another vehicle stop and, with the assistance of a K-9 unit, discovered two duffel bags containing 82.89 pounds of cocaine. The estimated street value of the cocaine was $470,000. The driver and narcotics were turned over to the DEA, and the vehicle was seized.

“These back-to-back enforcement actions demonstrate the exceptional skill and commitment of our agents,” said Jeffrey D. Stalnaker, Acting Chief Patrol Agent of the San Diego Sector. “In addition to securing our nation’s borders, the Border Patrol helps protect American lives by disrupting the flow of dangerous narcotics.”

In fiscal year 2025, the San Diego Sector has seized 906 pounds of cocaine, 157 pounds of fentanyl, and 19 pounds of heroin, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking along the border.
