The Montgomery County Republican Committee headquarters in Pennsylvania temporarily shut down on Saturday after receiving a bomb threat over the phone, according to a press release from the state GOP.
The threat, described as “profanity-laced” and “angry,” was made around 11:07 a.m., prompting the closure of the office. Pennsylvania Republicans noted that this incident is part of a troubling rise in threats targeting party members and offices since September.

“Nothing will stop us from working to elect those who will put our country back on track,” said Lawrence Tabas, Chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania. He emphasized the importance of peaceful elections, adding, “There should be unanimous agreement that political violence has no place in our elections, especially after an innocent Butler County husband and father lost his life to political violence.”
The Montgomery County incident follows a series of threats against the party. In early September, an Erie County GOP staff member received violent death threats via text from a state resident. The message included graphic language and threats to the staffer’s life.
In a separate incident on October 10, protestors allegedly forced their way into the Delaware County Republican headquarters, threatening staff members and preventing them from leaving the premises. Two female volunteers reported feeling endangered during the encounter.

Later, on October 17, several GOP-affiliated individuals received an anonymous letter threatening potential harm to their property and families if former President Donald Trump wins in November. The letter contained ominous warnings about future consequences.
Local law enforcement, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s Election Integrity Task Force, and the FBI have been notified of the ongoing threats, as officials work to ensure the safety of party members and the integrity of the upcoming election.
