POLK COUNTY, Fla. – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Marine Unit and Polk County Fire Rescue recovered the body of an adult male from Lake Annie near Lake Wales on Monday morning.
The man was reported missing around 3:30 a.m. on July 15 after he failed to return from a kayak trip on the lake the previous afternoon. His friends discovered his overturned kayak around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and reported him missing.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death is ongoing, and the Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.
