Body Recovered From Water In Tampa Identified As 23-Year-Old Missing Man

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Police Department is investigating the death of a man whose body was recovered from the water near the 2400 block of Chapin Street on Monday.

The body was discovered just before 3:15 PM on January 6th by members of the Tampa Police Dive Team. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Armando Guzman-Ortiz, a resident of the area who was reported missing on December 26, 2024.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident, but at this stage, no foul play is suspected.


PREVIOUS REPORT: Tampa Police are investigating the discovery of a deceased man in the water near the 2400 block of Chapin Street.

Just before 3:15 PM on Monday, officers responded to a report of a body in the water. The Tampa Police Dive Team recovered the body of an adult male. Detectives are working to identify the deceased and notify his next of kin.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
