Body Found In St. Petersburg Pond Identified As 72-Year-Old Man

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A body discovered in a pond near the Vinoy Golf Club on Wednesday has been identified as 72-year-old Charles Peterson of St. Petersburg.

An employee of the golf club spotted the body in the water and contacted authorities around 8:30 a.m. Police responded to the scene in the 300 block of Belleair Drive NE and recovered the body.

While no signs of trauma were immediately evident, the death is being treated as suspicious pending the completion of an investigation by the Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police are asking anyone with information that may be relevant to the investigation to come forward.
