Bodies Of Two Girls Pulled From Florida Canal Hours Apart

The bodies of two young girls were found in a South Florida canal behind a condo complex on Tuesday.

Shortly after 12 pm on Tuesday, police received a 911 call reporting a body floating in the water close to the condo complex.

Around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, another 911 call came in reporting that a second girl, about the same age, was found dead in the canal, further northwest, Lauderdale Police Lt. Michael Santiago said.

Santiago said the girls are about the same age, pre-teen, between 10 and 13.

Santiago says it’s “a very complicated case with a lot of moving parts” and that they hope to have more information to release by the afternoon Wednesday.

The first child was wearing jean shorts and a gray shirt that had rainbow lettering of the word “Dance.” She wore her hair in twists and did not have on shoes. The second child was wearing a tan shirt and flowered pajama bottoms, WPLG reported, citing police.

Police are treating this as a homicide, pending medical examiner reports.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
