Democrats have finally found someone whose views on race are even too toxic for them.
According to The Daily Wire, Democrats in South Carolina are urging one of their own, state Rep. Krystle Matthews, to drop out of a U.S. Senate race against incumbent Republican Sen. Tim Scott after her racist views became public.
The Daily Wire noted that other South Carolina Democrats were reacting to Matthews’ comments to an undercover journalist from the conservative activist group Project Veritas.
In part of the secretively recorded video, Matthews boasts of keeping white people in her “mostly white” district “under my thumbs.” If she doesn’t “they get out of control.”
“My district is slightly Republican, and it’s heavily white,” she said on the tape.

“I’m no stranger to white people; I’m from a mostly white town. And let me tell you one thing. You oughta know who you’re dealing with, like — you gotta treat them like s—, like I mean that’s the only way they’ll respect you.”
According to The Daily Wire, other leading Democrats want Matthews out because of her inflammatory remarks.
State Rep. Justin Bamberg noted of Matthews, “If any of our white counterparts had said the same thing with regards to blacks, the minority community, including myself, would be up in arms calling for that member’s immediate resignation.”
Gubernatorial candidate Joe Cunningham said that “there is absolutely no place in our political discourse” for comments such as those made by Matthews. “The Democratic Party cannot and should not tolerate such behavior from our elected officials and candidates,” he added.
Sen. Brad Hutto, the Democrats’ leader in the state Senate, said, “When candidates of either party start making irresponsible statements, beyond what party they’re from, they need to reevaluate their candidacy, and that’s what needs to happen here.”
Trav Robertson, chairman of the state’s Democratic Party, said Matthews was “becoming a distraction to other Democrats on the ballot.” He encouraged her to “focus on her getting reelected to the (state) House of Representatives” instead of running for U.S. Senate.

Besides her racist comments, Matthews said in the video that she uses “dope” money to finance her campaign.
Several political analysts and outlets, such as the Cook Political Report and Politico, have said Sen. Scott should win re-election easily.
