In a display of bipartisan unity, U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania), and Katie Britt (R-Alabama), along with Representatives Jared Moskowitz (D-Florida-23) and Mike Lawler (R-New York-17), have introduced a bicameral resolution aimed at addressing the growing threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.
The resolution underscores the need for the United States, Israel, and allied nations to keep all options on the table to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The resolution, introduced on Friday week, asserts that Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a grave threat to global security, particularly to the United States and its allies in the Middle East, including Israel. It calls for immediate action to counter Iran’s nuclear program and demands that Tehran cease all activities related to uranium enrichment, the development of nuclear warheads, and the production of delivery systems capable of carrying such weapons.

“If the Iranian Ayatollah and his henchmen obtain a nuclear weapon, it would be one of the most destabilizing and dangerous events in world history,” said Senator Graham, a leading voice on national security issues. “This resolution clearly demonstrates that the Iranian regime is lying when it says they only want nuclear power and not a nuclear weapon. This is not an authorization for the use of military force, but a resolution establishing the truth regarding Iran’s nuclear intentions and capability.”
Graham also praised his colleagues for their bipartisan collaboration, emphasizing the importance of unity in addressing such a critical issue. “It speaks volumes that members from across the political spectrum are united on this front,” he said.
Senator Fetterman echoed Graham’s concerns, stating, “Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons is a threat we cannot ignore. The United States, Israel, and our allies cannot afford to sit back while the Iranian regime continues down this dangerous path. This resolution sends an unmistakable message: all options are on the table to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran.”

Senator Britt emphasized the need for strength in dealing with Iran. “Peace is achieved through strength, and our resolution sends an important bipartisan message to Iran that the U.S. will not tolerate Tehran’s aggression,” she said. “Iran’s continued pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a clear threat to the U.S., Israel, and our allies. Now more than ever, we must stand up to Iran and use every tool in our toolbox to address these threats.”
Representative Moskowitz highlighted the existential threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program, particularly to Israel. “Allowing Iran to maintain and build a nuclear program is an existential threat to the United States, Israel, and global stability,” he said. “This resolution makes clear the United States won’t stand for anything less and will consider all options to protect our national security. We must send a clear, bipartisan message that we stand with our ally Israel and that a continued nuclear program in Iran is an absolute nonstarter.”
Representative Lawler reinforced the bipartisan nature of the resolution, stating, “An Iran that has nuclear weapons is unacceptable and a danger not only to our closest ally, Israel, but also to the whole world. We must keep all options on the table when it comes to dealing with this unprecedented situation.”
The resolution outlines several critical points:
- Affirmation of the Threat: It declares that Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons is a credible threat to the United States and an existential threat to Israel and other allies in the Middle East.
- All Options on the Table: It asserts that all options, including diplomatic, economic, and military measures, should be considered to address the nuclear threat posed by Iran.
- Demands on Iran: The resolution demands that Iran immediately cease all activities that threaten the national security interests of the United States, Israel, and allied nations, including:
- Enriching uranium;
- Developing or possessing delivery systems capable of carrying nuclear warheads;
- Developing or possessing nuclear warheads.
The introduction of this resolution comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Recent reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have indicated that Iran has significantly increased its uranium enrichment activities, bringing it closer to the threshold of developing a nuclear weapon.
The bipartisan resolution sends a strong message to Tehran that the United States and its allies are prepared to take decisive action to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities. It also underscores the importance of maintaining a united front in addressing one of the most pressing security challenges of our time.
