A bipartisan bill mandating that the federal government purchase American flags made entirely in the United States has passed the House and now awaits the President’s signature.
The All-American Flag Act, introduced by Senators Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.), and Gary Peters (D-Mich) in 2023, received unanimous approval in the Senate in November.

“The All-American Flag Act ensures that our nation’s most iconic symbol, the American flag, truly reflects our values. This legislation guarantees that every thread of our ‘Stars and Stripes’ symbolizes the dedication of the hardworking men and women who built our country. There’s nothing more patriotic than that,” stated Scott Paul, President of the Alliance for American Manufacturing.
Currently, federal law only requires that flags purchased by the government contain 50% American-made materials.
