On Tuesday, the Florida Legislature formally sent Gov. Ron DeSantis a bill that would prohibit homeless people from sleeping in public places.
The contentious bill (HB 1365) passed during the legislative session that ended last week.
It would prohibit cities and counties from allowing people to sleep in public buildings or on public rights of way.

It would also allow local governments to designate specific properties for sleeping or camping if they meet the Florida Department of Children and Families’ standards.
DeSantis has expressed support for the bill.
On Tuesday, DeSantis received nine bills from the Legislature.
He will have until March 27 to sign, veto, or let the bills become law without his signature.
