Getcha popcorn ready, former NFL star wide receiver Terrell Owens was fond of saying.
Accordingly, conservatives should toss a bag of Orville Redenbacher’s into the microwave and sit back and watch as woke Democrats eat their own for a change.
The most obvious example is the political buzzards circling above New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo, who just last year was a media darling, and floated as a possible presidential candidate, for being the anti-Trump on COVID-19, is on the ropes for sexist remarks and behavior. The biggest newspaper in the state capital has called on Cuomo to resign.
Critics assailing Cuomo for bad behavior with women, however, is a ruse to cover his real scandal: that evidence is fast mounting that Cuomo authorized a disastrous executive order that killed perhaps as many 15,000 elderly New Yorkers by forcing COVID-positive seniors to be returned to nursing homes.
In another example, down on the Mexican border, Hispanic Democratic congressmen are railing about Democratic President Joe Biden’s immigration policy, which is responsible for unleashing scores of virus-positive illegal immigrants into the country.
On Saturday, one of those Democrats, Rep. Henry Cuellar, accused the administration of taking policy cues from immigration activists and immigrants themselves, rather than listening to the Border Patrol and local leaders. Cuellar also accused the Biden administration of withholding the real numbers of illegal immigrants it has let loose in the country.
Then, there were reports that congressional Democrats were unhappy with Biden’s recent airstrike on a supposed Iranian-sponsored terrorist camp in Syria.
Democrats moaned that they were not warned ahead of time, and now some Senate Democrats are driving an effort to strip Biden of war powers to launch such military action under congressional authorizations approved in 1991 and 2002.
But some of the sweetest of the intramural ire is being directed at Arizona Democratic Sen. Krysten Sinema.
Sinema was among eight Democrats who joined all 50 Republicans in rejecting their party’s plan for a 107-percent hike in the federal minimum wage, to $15 an hour.
It wasn’t just that Sinema voted no. It’s also how she voted.
According to a video of the balloting on Friday, Sinema walked to the well of the Senate and then gave a dramatic thumbs down, accompanied by a curtsy.
Wokesters were outraged.
Typical among them was radical left-wing Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who tweeted, “No one should ever be this happy to vote against uplifting people out of poverty. This is Senator Sinema voting no on $15 minimum wage.”
Critics denounced not only Sinema’s demeanor but also her high-dollar Lululemon purse.
On Twitter, a liberal journalist named Bess Kalb offered a long tweet thread condemning Sinema’s choice of purse.
“What’s outrageous here is a woman actively fighting against economic justice WHILE flaunting privilege,” Kalb tweeted in the string. “Also Lulu f—ing lemon.”
Well, Sinema’s office fought back, in true wokester style.
Her spokeswoman, Hannah Hurley, asserted and then reiterated that criticism along these lines was … sexist.
“Commentary about a female senator’s body language, clothing, or physical demeanor does not belong in a serious media outlet,” she told Huffington Post.
Asked for follow-up, Hurley repeated: “I stand by what I said: commentary about a female Senator’s body language, clothing, or physical demeanor does not belong in a serious media outlet.”
Pass the popcorn.
