President Joe Biden continues to show that he’ll leave no stone unturned to force his leftist ideology onto American life.

This time, it’s chocolate milk.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is moving to ban chocolate milk and other flavored varieties in elementary and middle schools as part of establishing new dietary guidelines, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

“Flavored milk is a challenging issue to figure out exactly the best path forward,” Cindy Long, administrator of USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service, told the Journal.

“We really do want to encourage children to consume milk and we also recognize the need to reduce added-sugar consumption.”

The Biden administration argues that chocolate milk contributes to childhood obesity — apparently ignoring what kids eat or drink when not at school.

The ban on chocolate milk would take effect in the 2025-26 school year if the USDA approves it.

As usual with his policies, Biden’s view of taking America forward actually moves the country backward. In this case, it seems when given a choice between drinking chocolate or white milk and only white milk, dairy consumption goes down.

The Journal noted a 2019 study of a Massachusetts school district that found roughly 57% of children selected plain skim or 1% milk at schools without flavored milk. But when allowed to choose between white or chocolate milk, 94% of kids went with milk.

The dairy industry, naturally, opposes the new regulation. It’s counting on allies to help make the case against it.

“We want to take a product that most kids like and that has nine essential nutrients in it and say, ‘You can’t drink this, you have to drink plain’?” Katie Wilson, executive director of the Urban School Food Alliance, which represents 18 of the largest school districts in the country, told the Journal. “What are we trying to prove?”

The Journal added that the dairy industry is already seeking to cut back on added sugar in accordance with existing regulations.

In April, a group of 37 school milk processors, which combined control more than 90% of the milk volume in schools, announced they would reduce the sugar level to no more than 10 grams per 8-ounce serving. That would rescue the sugar level by one-third to half for many varieties of chocolate milk.
