President Joe Biden didn’t wait long after the horrific crash that toppled the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore to float a whopper.

Biden took to the podium Tuesday afternoon to give an update on the crash, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after the Dali, a freighter owned by a Singapore-based company called Grace Ocean Private Ltd. smashed into one of the bridge’s supports.

“At about 1:30, a container ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which I’ve been over many, many times commuting from the state of Delaware either on a train or by car,” Biden told reporters.

“I’ve been to Baltimore Harbor many times. And the bridge collapsed, sending several people and vehicles into the water — into the river. “

As often happens in his stories, Biden’s problem is that it just didn’t happen. It could not happen.

There are no rail lines on the Key Bridge, and there never were.

The 1.6-mile span had been utilized “exclusively” as a roadway since it opened in 1977.

In response, an unnamed White House official told Fox News: “The President was clearly describing driving over the bridge while commuting between Delaware and D.C.”

On Jan. 20, 2107, his last day as vice president, Biden told CNN that he had made more than 8,200 round trips on Amtrak while serving in Congress. “Two hundred and fifty-nine miles round trip a day, not every day, but on average 217 days a year,” he said.

Last November, he posted on Facebook, “I spent the bulk of my congressional career taking Amtrak. I commuted every day from Wilmington to Washington, D.C. Amtrak wasn’t just a way to get home to family—the conductors and engineers became my family.”
