The Biden administration, which openly advocates for an “assault weapons” ban for America, now seeks to impose such a ban on Israel, hobbling the ability of Israeli citizens to defend themselves against further terrorist attacks.
As the Tampa Free Press reported two weeks ago, President Joe Biden refused to sell as many as 24,000 M-16 rifles to the Israeli government unless or until it would guarantee the guns would not be given to its citizens living in the West Bank, a largely Palestinian area that belongs to and is governed by Israel.
About 500,000 Israelis live in the region, a small fraction of the 2.7 million Palestinians there.

Last week, the sale of many of the firearms still had not gone forward. This time because of remarks by Israel’s Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir.
The Daily Wire reported last week that Israel had received about 7,000 weapons following the Oct. 7 terrorist attack by Hamas that killed more than 1,200 Israelis and more than 30 Americans.
But the administration hit the brakes on a shipment of another 4,500 M-16s, worth about $13 million after Ben Gvir posted on social media how the weapons would be distributed.
The posts showed him posing with armed citizen security forces. In one post, Ben Gvir posed with a pile of the rifles and called on “everyone who is eligible” to obtain “a life-saving weapon.”
The Times of Israel reported that the Biden administration seemed more upset by the optics presented by Ben Gvir than the fact that more innocent and defenseless Jews could be slaughtered.
Ben Gvir was in fact arming West Bank settlers, even handing out guns at political events, the Times noted.
Yet one reason why Hamas was able to butcher so many Israelis so swiftly was because “many of the towns targeted were not properly equipped to defend themselves from Hamas terrorists,” the Times noted.
Ben Gvir, however, “has made a point of turning the distribution of American-made weapons into political events, publishing photographs of himself with the newly armed security squads, and angering the US State Department in the process.”
Meanwhile, as the Biden administration stews about Ben Gvir, Hamas’ leadership seeks “to replicate the October 7 attacks and incite further assaults on Israel, particularly from Judea and Samaria,” Rebel News reported.
Upset about Ben Gvir, the Biden administration reportedly demanded that any future weapons be distributed by the Israeli Defense Forces or local police.
Last week, Biden himself signaled that he is willing to punish Israelis for defending themselves.
The Times reported that seven Palestinians in the West Bank have been killed by “extremist” Israeli settlers, although the circumstances of those deaths are unclear.
Still, Biden wrote recently in The Washington Post, “I have been emphatic with Israel’s leaders that extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank must stop and that those committing the violence must be held accountable. The United States is prepared to take our own steps, including issuing visa bans against extremists attacking civilians in the West Bank.”

As The Daily Wire noted in its piece, “Apparently wanting to show the world that Israel is arming its citizens to stop Islamic terrorist attacks is offensive to the Biden administration.”
