Before he condemned election interference, President Joe Biden’s campaign was apparently was practicing it.
The New York Post reported on Thursday that in 2020 Biden’s campaign turned to a friendly figure in the U.S. intelligence community to organize the smear against the Post over its reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop — a story that could have been severely damaging to Biden’s presidential prospects had the media and the Democrats not worked to undermine it as Russian “disinformation.”
And it appears the main organizer who brought together 50 other intelligence officials to try to discredit the Post did so in the hope of landing a job in the Biden administration.

Post columnist Miranda Devine reported that former acting CIA director Mike Morell testified to the House Judiciary Committee that he was contacted by Anthony Blinken, now the secretary of state, when the story broke about Hunter’s wayward laptop.
Besides some of the lewd and lurid details of Hunter’s private life, the device contained information suggesting Joe Biden was involved in Hunter’s dubious overseas business ventures — which Joe Biden denied.
Morell told investigators that he had no intention of doing anything to help the Bidens with the laptop story after it broke. Then, Blinken contacted him on behalf of the campaign.
Then Morell, who Devine wrote had been “identified as a potential CIA director under Biden,” said he went to work to “help Vice President Biden … because I wanted him to win the election.”

“Over the next two days [after Blinken’s call], Morell gathered signatures from 51 former intelligence officials,” Devine wrote.
That group published an open letter claiming the Post’s reporting was a tool of Russian disinformation operatives. Biden’s campaign even directed Morell to give the letter to a Democrat-friendly reporter at The Washington Post.
The mainstream media and social media giants opted to suffocate the Post’s story because of that letter. Joe Biden himself cited that letter in a debate with Trump to suggest the Post got it wrong.
But since then the Post has been vindicated by liberal media, led by the left-wing New York Times, that have admitted the story was legitimate.
Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has vowed to investigate the 51 spies who “blatantly lied” to influence the 2020 election.

Morell sold himself for nothing. He did not become Biden’s CIA chief.
Meanwhile, House Republicans are pursuing the allegations he admitted.
Devine noted that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Intelligence Committee Chairman Michael Turner sent Blinken a letter on Thursday.
“We are examining the origins of the infamous public statement signed by 51 former intelligence officials that falsely discredited a New York Post story regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop as supposed Russian disinformation,” they wrote.
The lawmakers told Blinken they contacted him because they “have learned that you played a role in the inception of this statement while serving as a Biden campaign advisor.”
“It is apparent that the Biden campaign played an active role in the origins of the public statement, which had the effect of helping to suppress the Hunter Biden story and preventing American citizens from making a fully informed decision during the 2020 presidential election,” the lawmakers added.

“This concerted effort to minimize and suppress public dissemination of the serious allegations about the Biden family was a grave disservice to all American citizens’ informed participation in our democracy.”
They asked Blinken to release all documents related to the letter and to provide the House with the identities of everyone involved in its “inception, drafting, editing, signing, publishing, or promotion.”
