Florida Governor DeSantis Jobs

Biden Admin Data Is Clear: Republican Governors Crush Democratic Ones In Terms Of Pandemic Recovery

Last month Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis took a victory lap amid a dismal national jobs report.

President Joe Biden’s economy produced only 210,000 jobs in November. Yet DeSantis was crowing because nearly a quarter of them – 51,100 – were in Florida. The Sunshine State also produced a job growth rate that at the time outpaced the nation as a whole by 600 percent.

“We will continue to focus on our state’s foundation of freedom to ensure that Florida remains a leader in economic growth and Floridians are able to succeed,” DeSantis said at the time.

Turn out, he’s not alone.

States like Florida – with Republican governors and GOP-led legislatures – are crushing blue states in job growth.

As Breitbart News reported, that assessment is based on number-crunching by the Republican National Committee.

“Newly released December data from the Labor Department confirms that Republican governors and legislatures are leading the way in getting Americans back to work,” the RNC said in a statement on Tuesday.

Here are some of the RNC’s findings:

  • More jobs are being recovered and unemployment is lower in red states
  • 16 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the COVID-19 pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 18 of the top 20 states have Republican-led legislatures
  • The top nine states for jobs recovered are all led by Republicans
  • Four Republican-led states – Utah, Idaho, Texas, and Arizona – have more jobs now than when the pandemic hit, likely evidence of the mass exodus from blue states
  • Republican-led states on average have recovered 87 percent of jobs lost during the pandemic, compared to just 75 percent for Democrat-run states

The story was similar when viewed from the other side.

The RNC found that 16 of the top 20 states with the lowest unemployment rates are run by Republican governors, while 17 have Republican-controlled legislatures.

Other findings:

  • The 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates are all led by Republicans, while the seven states with the highest unemployment rates are all led by Democratic governors: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, and New York
  • The average unemployment rate for the nation’s 27 states with Republican governors is just 3.4 percent, compared to the 4.9 percent rate found in Democrat-led states
  • Republican governors lead 80 percent of the states with unemployment rates that are now lower than when the pandemic hit; 95 percent of them have GOP-controlled legislatures
  • 12 states hit new record low unemployment rates. Of those, 10 have Republican governors while all 12 have Republican-controlled legislatures

Other odds and ends also contributed to the evidence that red states dominate.

For example, the RNC said, “Voters are flocking to Republican-led states, with populations growing in red states like Texas and Florida, while the populations of blue states like Illinois and New York are shrinking.”

In another aspect, eight of the nation’s top 10 ten hottest real estate markets are found in red states. On the other hand, “California ran out of U-Hauls for people moving out of the state while the top destination for this equipment was Texas,” the RNC noted.

The RNC argued red states are also better for business, as Republican states claimed nine of the top 10 ten states for the best business tax climate, according to the Tax Foundation. Meanwhile, the four states with the worst business tax climate are all run by Democratic governors.

The RNC also noted a study on economic freedom, which rated governors based on

economic performance, fiscal policy, and executive policy, that found nine of the top 10 governors are Republican.

“Republican governors and legislatures deliver results, while Biden and Democrat governors are leaving Americans behind,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told Breitbart. “Despite Biden’s reckless spending, skyrocketing prices, and forced mandates, Republican commitments to commonsense, conservative economic policies are leading the way.”
