TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police responded to an early morning traffic fatality in the 2100 block of W. Waters Avenue at 5:46 a.m. Thursday morning.
A bicyclist, a white male in his early 40s, was traveling on the sidewalk on the north side of the road when he veered into a traffic lane in the roadway.
The cyclist was struck by a white Nissan pickup truck that was traveling westbound, causing him to be knocked off his bicycle.

“Officers attempted to provide life-saving measures; however, the cyclist succumbed to the injuries he sustained because of the crash,” said Tampa PD.
The driver of the Nissan, an adult Hispanic male, remained on scene, cooperating with the investigation. There are no criminal charges or citations pending.
Traffic along W. Waters Avenue was closed to traffic for approximately 3 hours to allow for the investigation. All lanes of traffic have now been reopened.
