TAMPA, Fla. – A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle Thursday morning on 50th Street, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene near 50th Street and Melburne Boulevard shortly before 7:00 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle versus bicycle crash. Upon arrival, they found the bicyclist had died from injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the vehicle, an adult woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation.

The southbound lanes of 50th Street from Melburne Boulevard to Interstate 4 were closed for several hours while officers investigated. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the area.
The Tampa Police Department is continuing its investigation into the fatal crash.
