TAMPA, FL. – A bicyclist was killed after a speeding driver crashed into the bike near the intersection of Park Center Dr. and Lizards Tail Road on Thursday morning around 7:35 am.
Police say the driver was traveling north on Lizards Tail Rd. at a high rate of speed when he failed to observe a bicyclist traveling southbound.
The driver hit the bicyclist head-on then crashed into a tree, according to police.
Investigators say the bicyclist died at the scene. The driver was taken to the hospital.
No word on the driver’s condition at this time, but we will update this story as details are released.
