The saga of George Santos has produced some comedic relief.
Santos, a New York Republican who scooped up a U.S. House seat in November, has recently admitted to fabricating some of his biography.
Robert Zimmerman, the Democrat who lost to Santos, and whose campaign apparently failed massively at opposition research in trying to protect a Democratic seat, is now demanding an election rematch and a congressional investigation.
Zimmerman is getting part of what he wants.
According to Just The News, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly this week announced an investigation into Santos, saying that his “numerous fabrications and inconsistencies … are nothing short of stunning.”

“The residents of Nassau County and other parts of the third district must have an honest and accountable representative in Congress,” she added. “No one is above the law and if a crime was committed in this county, we will prosecute it.”
If a politician lying is now a crime, we’re soon going to have a prison overcrowding problem — and we could start with Democrats, including President Joe Biden (who lies about practically everything), Sen. Richard Blumenthal (who lied about serving in Vietnam), and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (who lied about being Native American).
Nonetheless, at least one lawmaker is willing to give Santos a break, for now.
This week, Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene argued on Twitter that Santos at least deserved a chance to show what he could as a congressman.
She did so after Santos appeared on a Fox News broadcast with Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman.
In her tweet thread, Greene noted that Gabbard showed Santos “zero grace” during her interview with him.

“Tulsi says that George’s actions on the House floor are what is most important, but George has not even had the chance to take action for his district on the House floor because he isn’t even sworn in yet,” Greene argued. “Tulsi also says how can his district believe anything he says when he is standing on the House floor fighting for them.”
“I too believe actions and words are extremely important, but I don’t think a former Democrat who’s (sic) actions on the House floor as recent as 2020 that gave her an A from Planned Parenthood, an F from the NRA, and introduced a climate agenda signature piece of legislation called the OFF Act — designed to end all fossil fuels (the same as AOC’s Green New Deal) should lecture a newly elected Republican member of congress on how he should vote to represent his Republican district.”
“I do appreciate that Tulsi says words that sound conservative now even though she can’t take action to back them up,” Greene added. “I am glad she, like George, realized she made mistakes and was wrong every time she voted to support killing the unborn, taking away our gun rights, and legislated to kill America’s energy independence and the fossil fuel industry.”
“I hope Tulsi is sincere, just like I hope George is sincere. I think we Republicans should give George Santos a chance and see how he legislates and votes, not treat him the same as the left is,” Greene concluded.

A day later, Greene defended Santos again, this time when disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok, who led the investigation of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, suggested federal authorities should look at whether Santos for his own ties to the Kremlin after he claimed to have visited Moscow.
“Oh look,” Greene repled to Strzok, “one of the chief liars formerly from the liars division at the FBI is attacking George Santos and trying to convince everyone George is involved in Russian collusion.”
“Peter can’t you use your elite minded education and come up with a new lie? Russia lies are so 2016.”
