A political committee backing a proposed constitutional amendment about hunting and fishing rights raised more than $450,000 from April 1 through May 31, according to a newly filed finance report.
The Vote Yes on Amendment 2 committee, which was launched in April, collected $451,950 during the period.
That included $250,000 from the organization T. Roosevelt Action Inc. and $100,000 from Friends of Wilton Simpson, a political committee led by state Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson.
Another $50,000 came from Arcadia Stockyard in Arcadia, while contributions also came from political committees linked to Sen. Jonathan Martin, R-Fort Myers; Rep. Mike Giallombardo, R-Cape Coral; Rep. Adam Botana, R-Bonita Springs; and Rep. Lauren Melo, R-Naples, according to the finance report.
Last year, the legislature approved placing the proposed constitutional amendment on the November ballot.

The proposal says, in part, that it would “preserve forever fishing and hunting, including by the use of traditional methods, as a public right and preferred means of responsibly managing and controlling fish and wildlife.”
