The head of the Babylon Bee, a conservative satire website, was not amused when one of his pro-Trump employees publicly popped off at a senior adviser to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The employee, as they say, fooled around and found out, as Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon fired staffer Gavin Mario Wax in real time on Friday after a public spat that began when Wax fired off a vulgar tweet at Christina Pushaw, the former spokeswoman for DeSantis and his top media adviser.

The incident was first reported by the conservative website BizPacReview.

On Friday evening, Wax tweeted, “Hey @ChristinaPushaw what’s your f–king problem?”

It’s unclear what prompted Wax to lash out.

Dillon replied, “What’s yours? Tweeting like this with the Bee in your bio doesn’t work for me.”

Wax, however, persisted.

“Being accused of things that are false (and criminal) doesn’t work for me,” Wax responded, again without other context.

Dillon then answered, “You can take the Bee out of your bio now,” he replied.

Dillon’s reply sparked a feud among Twitter users who agreed with his approach and those who criticized his public firing of a subordinate.

Some supporters of former President Donald Trump were particularly incensed by the exchange between Dillon and Wax, and claimed they would no longer follow the popular conservative site, which, as one said, is now a home for “paid DeSantis shills.”

Wax came back on Friday night to defend himself again.

“It (sic) I lose my job for defending the greatest President of my generation and for defending myself, then so be it I don’t cave to leftwing cancel culture, and I won’t cave to right-wing cancel culture,” he tweeted.

Among those who criticized that comment was Chris Loesch, the husband of conservative talk-radio host Dana Loesch.

“No, you lost your job at the Christian humor site by displaying repeated, aggressive, non-Christian behavior towards a woman,” Loesch said. “That’s not ‘defending’ anyone, and the greatest POTUS of the last 100 years is Ronald Reagan.”
