HIGHLANDS COUNTY, FL. – Kenneth Jerome Pearson Jr., 30, was taken into custody just before sunrise Sunday morning and charged with the shooting death of a 31-year-old man in Avon Park Saturday night.
The shooting took place at 9:30 p.m. Saturday night on South Carolina Ave. in Avon Park. After the shooting, Pearson stole a car and fled the scene.
Deputies eventually tracked down Pearson and located him inside a home on Warfield Place in Sebring. Pearson was eventually talked into coming out of the house and surrendered without incident.
Pearson is charged with first-degree murder, vehicle theft, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and booked into the Highlands County Jail.
